a-e-i-o-u collectief

Established in 2016, a-e-i-o-u collectief ( fka de zwarte zusters) is a collective of 25 artist who each have their own (mostly visual) artistic practices, but gather in musical performance. Using improvisation, they explore the tension between the musical and visual aspects of performances. The starting point for their durational performances (that sometimes lasts for 8 hours) is the search for collective values and trust, focusing on the equivalence of all musicians and unaffected pleasure in playing. Each performance is a surprise for both the audience and the performers; as they adapt to the space they perform in they explore the boundaries of the setting. They performed at STUK during the Artefact Festival 2020, in Beurschouwburg, De Studio, Het Entrepot, Kunstenfestival Plan B, KONVOOI, Mayday Mayday festival, Nightshift (Gouvernement) and more.
